At Baruch College, our Visit Guides share their experiences of being the first to attend college in their families and taking on challenging obstacles in their college journey. The goal of our visit is for students to join us on the path of early college awareness. Through competition-style activities, students, teachers, and staff will be able to learn about the majors, clubs, and events that make up our Baruch Community. In addition, students will be able to discover Baruch programs they can join as early as in middle school to prepare for college.

Bronx Community College

Bronx Community College

At Bronx Community College (BCC), students will have the opportunity to experience a virtual tour of the college campus and learn about interests, careers, and majors from the perspective of current college students. Through the BCC STEM experience, students will participate in activities such as: using purple cabbage as an indication to test pH levels in foods, a virtual dissection of the human body and learning about the function of each organ, or learning about one’s blood type and its importance. In the BCC non-STEM experience, students will learn about the different artistic landmarks in New York City and view different dance moves that contribute to the Afrobeat experience.

Brooklyn College

Brooklyn College

At Brooklyn College, students will learn about what it is like to be a college student through activities and critical thinking exercises that will equip them with knowledge about the college process. Visit Guides will share their college experiences with students and how they overcame their obstacles. These sessions will cover key information to know when it comes to helping students prepare for college, including college terminology, types of schools, and financial and academic aid. We will also answer any questions students and teachers might have in order to make the college process more understandable.

City College of New York

City College of New York

At the City College of New York (CCNY), students are invited to take part in multiple workshops to learn about the different opportunities the college offers. By the end of the session, students will learn that they can start taking steps NOW to prepare for the college of their choice, by learning how to apply to a variety of opportunities programs offered in high school and college. CCNY workshops are led by college students who will share their middle school, high school, and college experiences through interactive games and activities.

Hostos Community College

Hostos Community College

At Hostos Community College, students will learn from Visit Guides enrolled in programs like Media Design: Digital Design & Animation and Allied Health: Nursing & Dental Hygiene. Visit Guides will share unique stories about their college experiences, provide insightful resources, and discuss the steps necessary to prepare for college success. Students will also participate in a game called “Guess That Graduate”, that allows students to recognize and relate to some of today’s most influential pop cultural icons who also went to college. Students will walk away from this experience with a better understanding of the early steps they can take towards a successful college career, and of the lifelong opportunities that can be cultivated at Hostos.

John Jay College

At John Jay College, students will learn about our Criminal Justice programs. Students will participate in a campus tour and hear from Visit Guides majoring in Forensic Psychology, Anthropology, and Law & Society. As a college determined to create Fierce Advocates of Justice, students will also help Detective Scruff solve a homecoming mystery that shakes the John Jay campus. By the end of the session, students will discover the importance of attending John Jay College to pursue a career in the criminal justice field.

Kingsborough Community College

At Kingsborough Community College, students will learn about our unique campus programs: Maritime Technology and Surgical Technology. Students will participate in a simulated operating room and learn about the various instruments used in Surgical Technology. For Maritime Technology, students will learn the basic nautical knots and participate in a tour of our ship simulator! By the end of the session, students will discover the importance of each major and their related career options.

Students will learn about college through a virtual campus tour, or participate in an activity that will ask them to shape their future college student. Lehman College

At Lehman College, students will go on a virtual tour that brings awareness to the responsibilities of a college student. Students will participate in a kinesthetic warm up and learn about financial aid, tuition, and high school preparation. Visit Guides will use storytelling to provide insight on approaches middle schoolers can take as they begin to think about college.

Medgar Evers College

Medgar Evers College

At Medgar Evers College, students will have the opportunity to learn the fundamentals and expectations of college from our Visit Guides. Some topics covered during our tour are: college admission requirements, paying for college, and the college application process. As the only Predominantly Black Institution (PBI) in CUNY & New York City, civil rights and social justice are the pillars of our institution. Our tour provides students with a unique opportunity to learn about the college’s namesake, civil rights activist Medgar Wiley Evers. By the end of our session, students will have a better understanding of what to expect and what is expected of them as they embark on their journey to college.

NYC College of Technology

At City Tech, students will learn about the college experience from our engaging Visit Guides. During our visit, students will learn about how to prepare for college, about different majors, and about college life through the personal stories of college students at City Tech. Students will come away with information on our health majors, STEM majors, and our unique culinary and communication design programs. Students will also learn about the varied resources at the college, such as tutoring, financial aid, student development and accessibility services.

Queens College

At Queens College (QC), students will learn about our campus’ main attractions, campus life, and academics. As QC aims to make the campus a home away from home, students will hear about our clubs, NCAA Division II sports teams, and on-campus apartments. Throughout the campus tour, students will be introduced to college terminology, college readiness, and financial aid. Visit Guides will share their college experiences, tips, and advice. Students will participate in a game to review all the important information they have learned during their visit. After their visit, students will leave with more knowledge about Queens College and ways to start preparing for college.

Queensborough Community College

Go full S.T.E.A.M (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) ahead with Team QCC as we take you on a ride around campus to learn about what makes Queensborough Community College so special. Before we go on our tour, students will first have to help us save the campus from being taken over by aliens. When we safely return, students will have a chance to hear more about college life from Visit Guides majoring in S.T.E.A.M fields. Team QCC wants to help build students’ confidence in their ability to attend and be successful in college. We also want to ignite interest in S.T.E.A.M by making connections to careers and showing how the study of it can be meaningful and applied to every day life.

At York College, students will engage in a remote “Majors and Minors” campus tour led by Visit Guides. They will learn about the differences between a major and minor, hear from Visit Guides about their own middle school challenges and college experiences, and learn how to choose a college that would best fit their needs.
