The theme of the York visit is “A Day in the Life.” Tuesdays – Thursdays, Explorers will take part in a campus visit that includes the campus radio station, nursing department, athletics facility, robotics rooms, and other great campus locations. On Fridays, four middle schools will have the opportunity to participate in any of the 4 STEM programs (Aviation Management, Radio Station Personality, Nursing, and Music Audio Recording) for a maximum of 100 students. The theme of the Queensborough visit is STEM and How it Shapes our Everyday Experience. Explorers will tour the campus and see Administration, Art & Design, Student Union, Gym, Medical Arts buildings, and other campus locations. Students will participate in an interactive STEM activity and a college jeopardy game during lunch. On special event days, students will also have the opportunity to tour the Holocaust Center, Art Gallery, and the Nursing Department’s Virtual Hospital. Please see the registration site for details.
The theme of the Queens College visit is Shaping Your Future and Life. Explorers will take part in a campus tour that includes stops at the Student Union, Library, Gymnasium, Quad, Dining Hall, a college panel session and a game show activity during lunch. The theme for the LaGuardia Community College visit is “Understanding the Experience of College Students”. Explorers will take part in a campus tour that includes stops such as the Library, Pool, Gymnasium, and Hallway of flags, while learning what it means to be a college student. Then students will receive lunch and engage in a college-related activity. They will learn about college readiness while hearing about each visit guides’ individual journey to college.
